Nimea Ariana
As an artist, I create immersive works through painting, drawing, writing, sculpture and textile work exploring the intersection of art and spirituality. Through my creation-based research practice, I explore themes of life, death and creative intellect, by studying the metaphysical, mystical, meditative and transcendental experiences that instill such life-altering and out-of-body experiences.
My process transcribes my dream states, shamanic experiences and kaleidoscopic visions that I experience as a means to bring thought into form and energy into tangible experiences that evoke a sense of wonder, joy and imagination. In this space, I create an opportunity to explore the physical and non-physical aspects of reality and immerse the viewer in an experience that transcends boundaries.
I believe by inviting the viewer into my world, through immersive environments and large-scale works of art, I can create an experience that overwhelms the senses. This activates the viewer's perception of reality, inviting them to become a part of the work. In this space, I explore the idea that “we are all living works of art in motion” and that we can shape our reality.
As such, evoking the playful, child-like nature of our senses is central to my creative process. The ability to translate my ideas into mystical and magical landscapes for the viewer to transcend the limits of time and space and embark on their own journey of self-discovery, venturing into a realm beyond the imagined known.
While exploring colour and form as vibration, my work often begins with a simple black-and-white palette. It evolves to explore how light, sound, and texture unfold narratives that reach beyond the visible and conscious layers of the viewer's perception. My artistic aim is to transcend mere visual aesthetics, engaging instead in a poetic expression that narrates a personal odyssey, intricately woven through each piece and collective body of work. Grounded in my research-creation practice, I blend deeply personal insights on the meaning of life with visionary experiences informed by my own spiritual journey.
Ultimately, my art seeks to illuminate the multidimensional nature of the human experience, inviting audiences into my world, one installation at a time. It’s here that I’m discovering the intricate layers that connect and define our existence and I believe it’s through my ability to translate the experiences emerging from within that prompt the conversations that connect them all. Each work produced can be seen as an individual piece or a collective body of work that spans over the arch of time that’s here to tell a story and I believe that story is mine.
While I began my career in 2008, working in event and exhibit design, after a series of transformational life experiences, I embarked on a path of self-discovery, having found myself emerging as an artist in 2019 when I presented my first public art exhibition, 'Crystalline Structures,' at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

My artistic path is deeply rooted in a transformative journey of self-discovery, emerging from a series of profound personal experiences and meditative insights. My creative process and the resulting visual artworks serve as conduits for intuitive understanding, spiritual healing, and deep inner peace that resonates life after life.
Enduring a series of near-death experiences, I underwent a process of self-unmasking, awakening to the healing potential of artistic expression and how it transcends mere visual appeal, acting as a bridge connecting us to the manifold layers of reality beyond our physical senses.
Through my meditative state, I enter an expansive realm of pulsating violet light. This space is where visions, insights, and knowledge are revealed to me in a unique wave of light language. As I decipher and transcribe this language, I tend to gain a heightened awareness and an elevated perspective on the meaning of our life journey and the profound essence of existence.
These transcendental states move me between wakefulness and dreamlike consciousness. It’s here that I embody and translate this innate understanding, gradually unveiling the unseen ties between the material and spiritual worlds through my visionary works of art.
