How Colour Informs
Resources and Colour Swatches from Fabric Hunting, 2026.
What if all we had was colour to communicate our thoughts and feelings? What if words were not spoken, but light emitted through our very being — would we understand what others were saying, and could we boil down the nuances and complexities of their intentions through the patterning and frequency of the colours they’re emitting?
It’s all quite fascinating.
These concepts sit with me, as words and sound seem to be so much a part of our daily lives (at least they are mine), and yet, how often do we truly sit with and really reflect upon the colours that make up the images of our lives? Listening to what they are saying to us, and noticing how their use or presence impacts what we give or receive from the Universe.
Can colour play a larger role in what impacts our subconscious? Are we meant to notice their impact, or is it the language of something far more ancient and primal that we have instinctually outgrown speaking about, as its encrypted into our DNA, and how we operate, that there is no need to speak about colour as communication, in reflection to how we perceive ourselves, others and the world around us?
What if we all chose to wear a new colour, or implement a new tone into our lives that seems contradictory, or jarring in contrast to what others are used to seeing from us — does that shift the vibration of our reality so much that others relate to us differently, act with or respond to us in ways we’ve not yet experienced?
What do we call in with colour? What emotions and responsibility do we have to the world and ourselves, through the function of colour?
In design theory we understand that certain colours create different emotional ressonance within the human psyche, in marketing, businesses often use specific colours to drive sales, and promote business, we even relate specific colours to the chakra systems and astrological signs, so as living works of art, and as humans existing within such complexity and diverse perceptions around colour, and our attachments to them through our stories — how do we find relationship with eachother more often through colour?
And what is it about that relationship that matters?
I’d love to hear your perspective, if colour were a language — what is it saying to you and how does colour show up in your life? Where is it pulling you, how is it inviting change into your world, and what is the impact of it all on the Universe as a whole?
